Georgia has another ranked matchup coming up this week as No. 12 Tennessee rolls into town. It’s going to be the second of three straight for the Bulldogs with No. 2 Alabama looming next week in Tuscaloosa. UGA is coming off a 27-6 win over Auburn in The Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry, but it can ill afford to dwell on that success.
Kirby Smart is 3-1 against the Volunteers as a head coach. He lost his first matchup in 2016 on a Hail Mary but has led his team to three straight victories by an average of 32 points per game. The defense has led the way as UGA is giving up just over eight points per game during that three-game win streak.
Tennessee, however, comes in as confident as it has in years. Jeremy Pruitt’s team has won eight straight games and has the SEC’s longest win streak after LSU lost in week one to Mississippi State. Pruitt has the Vols believing and while there haven’t really been any marquee opponents during that time, his team has learned at least a little something about how to win and close out games.
